A degree apprenticeship is a Bachelor’s or Masters degree that is typically sponsored by a company and/or a university. You get paid whilst carrying out your university degree and don’t incur university fees. It’s a great way to start a career with a company.

Yes, you’ll earn a salary while completing a degree apprenticeship. You’ll be employed throughout the course, combining university study with on-the-job training, and you’ll receive the same rights as other employees which includes paid holidays.
Your employer will cover the cost of your tuition, so you won’t need to take out a student loan or pay university fees. You’re entitled to at least the national minimum wage for apprentices, though many employers offer more.
You can complete a degree apprenticeship at any age, however it’s worth noting that training costs will only be funded by the government up to age 24. If you are aged 24 or over you may be asked to contribute towards training costs.
Because you will be legally employed with a company (not just a student), you will also need to be eligible to work in the UK.
During a degree apprenticeship, typically 20% of your full-time working hours are spent on your university qualification. This is likely to look like either spending one day a week or one week a month at university, and the rest working at your company.
Because of studying for your degree in this part-time way, degree apprenticeships can typically take between three and six years to complete.
Most degree apprenticeships will require five GCSEs at A* – C (9 – 4 ), including English and Maths and three A-Levels, NVQs, or a BTEC. However, requirements can vary by company and apprenticeship type.
Another option can be to work your way up to a degree apprenticeship by completing advanced and higher apprenticeship qualifications first.
